Chief Justice Pikachu’s Guide to Life, Part 1 of 2

Our reporter, Blue, gained unprecedented access to the Chief Justice, who agreed to discuss his personal health, beauty, and relaxation habits. We’ll be publishing the interviews in a two part series.

The most senior member of the Kanto region Supreme Court, Chief Justice Pikachu is renowned for his wisdom. While he is easily the most famous Supreme Court Justice, and never shies away from stating his opinion on cases presented to the court, he leads a private life.

I met Chief Justice Pikachu at his weekend cabin in the country. Built from sun-bleached wood and surrounded by apple trees, it’s a picturesque sight.

“Pi KA chu!” he sings, opening the door and welcoming me into his home, “Please, take a seat. Would you like some apples or a glass of ketchup? The ketchup is made from tomatoes from my garden. The flavor is vibrant.”

I accept a glass of ketchup and take a sip. It’s delicious.

“It’s important to maintain a balanced diet to nourish one’s body…but ketchup is good for the soul. Chu!” Chief Justice Pikachu chuckles.

Chief Justice Pikachu is often seen walking the halls of the Capitol carrying a bottle of ketchup.

It’s a strange scene, watching Chief Justice Pikachu putter around a kitchen, chopping up apples and charring tomatoes with Thundershock. I’ve only seen him in the court. Or in his office, surrounded by legal texts.

When I ask him how he spends his rare moments of free time, Pikachu says that he enjoys going to the gym. “Rendering justice, that requires restraint. So I need a place where I can let loose! Sometimes I’ll battle Justice Raichu. Pik pika chu! I almost always win. Pika pika.”

“Physical exercise has always been an important part of my life,” Pikachu states, setting a plate of food in front of me, “Battling and training help me unwind and focus. It’s not about looking a certain way. I’ve been thick. I’ve been thin. I’ve been chubby. But I’ve always been fit. And I’ve always looked amazing at every size! Pi pikachu!” Pikachu punctuates this statement by taking a bite of carmelized apple and a long sip of ketchup.

Chief Justice Pikachu’s fluctuating weight and figure have been subject to much scrutiny over the past 20 years. I’d always imagined that as a bookish Supreme Court Justice he was insulated from the world of public opinion. But he was not. And, filled with unwavering confidence, he was immune to the remarks.

Pikachu looked particularly dapper at the Kanto Evolution Celebrations. Pikachu, as is tradition, declined to participate but was supportive of all Pokémon who did.

“The public seems to associate thinness with fitness, health, and beauty. They’re completely wrong.” Pikachu smiles devilishly as he continues speaking, “I’d like someone to present a case to the Supreme Court so we can issue a ruling. Pika pika!”
